Thoughts of death or suicide
-
Persistent sadness, anxiety, or feeling empty

Loss of interest in activities you used to enjoy

-
Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
If you are thinking of harming yourself or attempting suicide, you should call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. You can also call your doctor or mental health professional or contact a suicide hotline.
Depression, also known as major depressive disorder or clinical depression, can worsen and last for months or years if left untreated. It can also lead to suicide.
A doctor can help manage your symptoms. Treatments include medication, such as antidepressants, mood stabilizers, or antipsychotic drugs.
